Like Grand Designs – you’ll love BRE

Thinking of refurbishing your home? If you like watching Grand Designs, you’ll love BRE. Free admission during Sustainable StAlbans Week

You can see:

  • test houses
  • landscape designs
  • solar glass in action,
  • glazing and roofing solutions,
  • grey water recycling,
  • innovative low carbon materials and technologies.
  • visit a “zero-carbon” home, that generates more electricity than it costs to run.
  • a heritage building that has been refurbished to be low energy too.

breinnovation-park-tour-headerThe self-guided tour of the BRE Innovation Park is a great opportunity, on our doorstep, and during SustWeek the tour is completely FREE. It’s of interest to anyone thinking of refurbishing their home, involved in the building industry, or who just loves seeing new technology in action.

The Innovation Parks feature full-scale demonstration buildings that have been developed by industry-leading organisations, in partnership with BRE.

You can walk around the houses, touching and feeling the materials, and seeing cross-sections so you can really see how they work.

Because it’s self-guided, you can choose a day and time that suits you. Stay for an hour or all day, depending how engrossed you get!
