The St Albans Cycle Campaign (STACC) are inviting everone to their annual Public Meeting on Wednesday, 8th December 2010, 7.30pm in the Council Chamber at St Albans District Council Offices, St Peter’s Street. Everybody is welcome.
The theme for the evening is “Cycling DIY” and the main speaker will be Alix Stredwick of Transport Initiatives.
“Cycling DIY” is all about implementing small cycle-friendly schemes and features to make a big difference.
Alix has being doing just this type of thing, running a Volunteer Cycling Rangers scheme for the council in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
On the evening you will be able to list simple cheap things that can be done to improve matters for cyclists and/or mark them on the St Albans Cycling map. So get your thinking caps on!
Examples include indicating on the map where facilities can be simply joined up, improving cycle permeability – such as unblocking cul-de-sacs, contra-flow one ways, even a few simple dropped kerbs.
If you prefer, or if you can’t attend the meeting, you can also submit your ideas any time on the STACC blog by posting your ideas as Comments.
