Planting started at Fruitlands Community Orchard

Heartwood Forest, near Sandridge, isn’t going to be made up of just native broadleaf trees, it will also have a large community orchard.

Planting of the orchard officially started today, Apple Day, Thursday 21st October 2010, with children from the local Sandridge school and St Albans Mayor, Maxine Crawley, planting the very first trees.

As you can see in the photo, our own Peter B was also present, proudly wearing our TSA t-shirt and planting one of the first of 600 fruit trees which will eventually be planted there.
