The Festival of Life took place at the Market Place, St Peter’s Street, St Albans, on Sunday, 4th July, from 12 noon until 4pm.
Organised by St Albans City and District Council, this free festival was a celebration of the positive contribution that community groups are making towards the protection of the environment, the health of local residents, the arts and sports.
With more than 60 market stalls hosted by local organisations, clubs and groups involved with the environment, health, arts and sports, there was plenty to see and do.
Visitors were treated to demonstrations and given the opportunity to enter competitions to win prizes.
Our stall was near the new Tesco. Thanks to Dave and Heather, we had bean plants to give away to get people started growing their own veg, and Romayne brought some home-grown cherries which people were keen to taste. We also had a map of St Albans on display for people to mark where there are fruit trees that we might harvest in the Autumn for project Abundance.
You can see some pictures of our stall here.
A warm thank you to everybody who helped with the stall (Heather, Dave, Romayne, June, Anne Marie, Peter B, Dawn, David, Melvyn, Jack, Jacqueline and Kathryn) and to all who dropped by.
