The Queen’s allotment

Hot on the heels of Michelle Obama’s White House kitchen garden, Buckingham Palace has revealed that the Queen has an allotment too.

Strawberries, beans and tomatoes are all growing in a neglected corner of the palace gardens. True to royal form, it is all organic and includes rare heritage varieties.

If you’re dropping by after last night’s screening and discussion, thanks for joining us. You can find out more about transition towns here. If you’d like to look up some specific case studies, try Totnes, Forest Row or Lewes.

Some interesting articles on transition towns in the press the last few weeks include this Guardian column on ‘new politics’, and this Times article on learning to grow food again.
